GE is committed to growth and intends to strengthen its presence by the addition of a lawyer to support its operations in Iran (the Territory). This new position will be based in Tehran, Iran.
Essential Responsibilities:
Lead GE’s govement affairs and policy initiatives in the Territory, set policy strategy, drive company govement affairs initiatives, and advise on a broad range of govemental, policy and regulatory issues. Serve as GE’s legal counsel and strategic business partner in the Territory in relation to all aspects of public procurement, civil and commercial law aspects of contracting under local law, regulations on advertising and promotional materials, licensing. Assist in assessing risk profiles in the Territory and in developing appropriate measures to address and mitigate the identified risks. Support and provide advice in particular to GE Businesses in connection with significant commercial transactions. Retain exteal counsel to provide legal advice where necessary, including identifying issues for advice, choosing exteal counsel, providing instructions, negotiating fees, reviewing advice received and providing liaison with exteal counsel. Advise GE businesses on anticorruption legislation, labour & employment, regulatory, privacy, antitrust, advertising/promotional matters.. Provide regulatory and compliance advice, and be a motivator and energizer for a strong culture of integrity and compliance with the GE businesses locally. Ensure compliance with the laws of the Territory, including statutory compliance by GE legal entities. Ensure compliance with the inteational trade controls applicable to GE’s Businesses in the Territory, and provide training to GE Iran employees on such global regulations. Assume prime responsibility for promoting, and ensuring compliance with GE’s Integrity Polices by its employees and business partners; lead compliance initiatives in the Territory including employee compliance training, compliance communications, inteal investigations and agent and distributor due diligence. Guide business leaders in the development of legally compliant “Go-to-Market” strategies. Work with the business teams to develop legal templates and processes for new business and commercial models. Provide legal analysis and support to businesses setting up operations in new countries. Develop and implement a strategic approach to GE engagement with Iranian govement. Lead GE teams on govement affairs initiatives, implementing actions vis-à-vis govement institutions and regulatory agencies in a wide range of areas including energy, healthcare, environmental regulations, inteational trade, finance/capital, and intellectual property. Provide expert analysis and advice on the workings of the govement institutions and decision-making procedures and changes in govement players. Support sales to govements by helping sales teams tailor GE bids to govement needs, marshalling govement support and advocacy for GE’s bids, and utilizing govemental financing. Identify and quantify top govemental issues for GE and achieve results on those issues and opportunities.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Juris Doctorate or equivalent from an accredited law school. Minimum 8 years experience in business law at a premier law firm and/or corporate legal department, including significant relevant experience with a govement, global corporation or or consultancy firm. Member in good standing with local Bar. Extensive knowledge of law and commercial legal practice in the Territory. Strong relationships with govement officials and influencers or the potential to build such relationships. Deep knowledge of institutions, regulation, policies and priorities and decision processes in the territory
Ability to anticipate trends and manage risk, to resolve legal issues quickly and effectively and ability to make on the spot risk calls; ability to cope with pressure and multiple deadlines contemporaneously. Able to prioritize conflicting demands from multiple business clients in a fast paced environment. This is a key commercial finance leader role supporting GGO Pakistan & Iran CEO and the various GE business . In this role, the Commercial Finance Leader will be part of the MENAT Commercial Finance team and will be specifically dedicated to Iran region.
Essential Responsibilities:
- He/she will assist the Regional Commercial Finance Executive leader in driving region orders, profitability, growth and compliance. The candidate will also be responsible for leading & coordinating the execution of all financing and investment needs related to all projects in the Iran region.
- Provide business partnership and finance support to the Iran team in deal negotiations and financial risk management. Exercise delegated authority.
- Lead interactions with financial institutions and customers to develop capital markets-savvy, forward-leaning funding & investment structures that solve customer problems and enable growth.
- Work closely with Commercial Operations team and provide cost estimation support on active bids.
- Drive completion of KYC process, Revenue Recognition models, Letters of Credits, Bank Guarantees, Cash-Flows, FX hedging models etc.
- Partner with functional experts in controllership, tax, legal, treasury to ensure STAT/Tax compliant deal structuring.
- Serve as functional owner of deal opportunities and orders/sales/profitability pipeline reporting for the sub-region, by Product Line and by country. Track & drive active opportunities against target and estimates.
- Work closely with the Regional General Manager to drive short / long term and strategic planning cycles (OP Plan, BluePrints,…) and sessions and drive proactive representation of region with senior management.
- Provide country/sub-region level analytics on order trends, regional sales, backlog & convertibility; cash-flow; base costs measurements.
- Drive Receivables tuover improvements: drive awareness and ownership by implementing best practices across region to reduce receivables past dues; analyze and improve payment terms and coordination with collection teams; support factoring penetration.

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, with at least 12 years of finance experience
